DIET FOR HEALTH

. Abstract In Ayurveda health is considered as a subject of daily life routine. A person can't be either healthy or sick in a day. It requires cumulative actions of various factors to maintain the health status of a person. One among the most important factors related to our health is our diet. A lot of things have been taken into consideration in our ancient literature regarding our food habits. Any substance that is masticated and swallowed for the purpose of nutrition and energy is known as Ahara. Food is defined as substances consisting of protein, fat, carbohydrate, and other nutrients used in the body of an organism to sustain growth and vital processes and to furnish energy. Ahara should be analyzed in each and every perspective to gain maximum advantage out of it. Acharya thoroughly described the Ahar in Samhitas at various places. The aim of this study is to collect and analyze the various information given in classical texts about ahara. Some conclusions from other previous work are also summed up in this work.
