TRINA DHANYA (MILLETS) AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO UNHEALTHY FOODS: AN AYURVEDIC PERSPECTIVE

. Abstract Ayurveda is the science of life. Ayurveda not only describes the medicines for the treatment of diseases but also gives a detailed description of the food items to stay healthy. Ayurveda includes both preventive and curative medicine. At present, it is commonly said that prevention is better than cure. Describing the importance of diet in Ayurveda, it has been kept in Trayaupstambh and it has also been called Mahabhaishajya. The risk of non-communicable disease (NCD) is increasing due to today's food habits and lifestyle. In Ayurveda, it is placed in santarpanjanya viyadhi. To avoid these diseases, Ayurveda has been asked to consume Vaatkar, ruksha, and low-calorie foods in which Trina Dhanya (Millets) is the best traditional food item. And through this research paper, an attempt is being made to raise awareness about Trina Dhanya (millets) and its use according to Ayurveda for the benefit of society.
