Abstract

The use of ultrasound in therapy and drug administration has gained importance in recent years, evident by the increase in the number of patents filed and the introduction of new commercial devices. This review discusses recent advances in sonophoretic drug delivery two decades and highlights the important challenges that still need to be met in order to exploit this technology greater use in disease mitigation.
