Abstract
Time plays a significant role in human life. Understanding time-use in
people with a life-limiting illness might provide insight into disease
progression, symptom management and quality of life. Diseases
occurring to the persons are also considered to be caused by time.
Ayurveda has given great importance to the kala (time) for the swastha
(healthy) as well as the athura (disease). It is that which controls both
life and death of the individual. It is a continuous process like chakra
(wheel) which does not stop even for a moment and joins both sukha
and dhukha to the life of the individual. According to Charaka, kala
have been divided into two. Nithyaka and Avasthika. In ayurveda time
refers to Kala/ Parinama. Time holds a very significant place in ayurveda. From nidan
(prognosis) of the disease to treatment of disease. If a disease left untreated for a long time it
will turn any sadhya roga into asadhya roga. If lakshans mentioned in every diseases left
unnoticed then it will surely get converted in arishta lakshana with time. Early detection or
diagnosis of a disease has great importance in the life of any person. If diagnosed at an early
stage some diseases can be cured fully or certain disease state can be reversed. Treatment also
becomes easier, the quality of life is preserved, and the risks associated with the disease are
prevented. Early detection leads to more cures and longer survival rates. So here time plays a
key role. In our texts ausadh sevan kala is mentioned which is very much necessary in curing
any disease.
