Abstract
Drug delivery technology has become extremely competitive and fast
changing in the current scientific landscape, with ever increasing
demand. Fast dissolving tablet (FDT) is one such creative and one of a
kind medication delivery device that is quickly gaining interest in the
rapid dissolving technology research area. Oral route is the most
common and safest route of drug delivery because of wide range of
drugs are administered through this route. Fast dissolving tablets
(FDT), which dissolve or disintegrate quickly in water, were recently
developed by researchers. Mouth saliva without intake of water FDT
or MDT (mouth dissolving tablets) are examples of innovative
medicine delivery that have solved various drawbacks including
dysphagia or limited access to water while travelling. FDT can be a
helpful substitute for conventional dose forms as well. This review
article discusses several FDT preparation methods, quiet features, patented technologies, the
mechanism of super disintegration, and its limitations.
