PHYTOPHARMACOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF ADHATODA VASICA

Abstract
A.vasica is important on a global scale. This herb has long been a
staple of the ayurvedic medical system. The current study provides an
account of the most recent data on its pharmacological and
phytochemical actions. In indigenous systems of medicine, vasica is a
well-known herb for its therapeutic properties, notably in bronchitis.
Herbs from the A.vasica genus are used to treat allergies, asthma,
chronic bronchitis, colds, and cough. Traditional medicinal plants'
secondary metabolites are known to play enduring functions in both
ancient and contemporary medical systems. Pyrroloquinazoline
alkaloids can be found in abundance in A.vasica. which primary
components are present in various plant extracts. These compounds
shown many biological and pharmacological activities such as antiulcer,
anti-tubercular, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-malarial, cardioprotective, HIV protease
inhibitor, immunomodulatory, antitussive, radioprotective, anticholinesterase, antimutagenic,
wound healing, anti-asthamatic and bronchodilator, abortifacient, anti-allergy,
insecticidal, hepatoprotective, platelet count and thrombolytic activity.
