Abstract
In Ayurveda, the interior environment is defined by "Prakriti," or
personality types. It refers to a person's nature, personality, and
behaviour as they have existed since conception. It developed as a result
of the Doshas dominating at the time of fertilisation. It is referred to as
Prakriti when internal harmony is maintained (homeostasis). When all
the Doshas are in harmony, Prakriti is preserved, and this state is known
as Doshsamyta and. Dosha Vaishamya is the term used to describe an
imbalance of the Doshas within the body. To keep doshas in a healthy
and balanced state, homeostasis must be maintained. A system that
regulates its internal environment and tends to maintain stable,
consistent conditions of factors like temperature, pH, blood pressure,
respiration rate, pulse rate, etc. is said to be in homeostasis. Materials and Methods:
Literature and references related to the proposed title are collected from classical texts of
Ayurveda and contemporary literature. Various publications, research papers, references from
internet related to topic have been considered. Result: In Ayurveda sama is better understood
as the condition in which an individual's physiology is within the bounds of normalcy
permitted by his Prakrti. Conclusion: The primary goal of Ayurveda is equilibrium between
all of doshas (also known as Samyavastha), that is nothing more than "Maintenance of
Homeostasis". If these doshas remain in balanced state, the body functions properly and any
derangement in these doshas will lead to pathology or disease. Therefore, samyavastha in
Ayurveda most closely reflects an individual's homeostasis, which is in charge of maintaining health in healthy person.
Keywords: Dosh, Doshsamyta, Agni, Homeostasis.
