A REVIEW ON ACTION OF GHRTA IN AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

Abstract
The term Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) refers to a group of neurodevelopmental conditions that includes permanent impairment of reciprocal social communication and social interaction, restrictive repetitive patterns of behaviour interest or activities. The increased identification of these disorders, the emotional impacts they have in families and the challenging financial demands currently make ASD an important illness at scientific, public health and human rights level. In India, ASD is seen 1 in 250 population. Currently, India consists of 10 million population with autism. ASD is 1 in 34 among boys (2.97%) and 1 in 145 among girls (0.69%), boys suffering more than girls.[1] Typical or Atypical Autistic features falls under the category of Unmada. The definition of Unmada incorporates various forms of inappropriate actions exhibited by the individual. As a result, distortion of normal mind, intellect, conscious knowledge, memory, desire and behavior. Ayurveda classics mentions that, Ghrta does Vatapittashamana, Kaphavardhaka and acts as Medhya, Balyakara, Ayu vardhaka, Ojo vardhaka, Rasayana, and Shoshanashaka. Indicated in Unmada, Apasmara, Mada and Murcha.[2]
