FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL FACE-SCRUB

Abstract
Background: Natural remedies are much more acceptable than any
synthetic formulations in today’s genre. Herbal formulations have a
growing demand in the world market. These days’ western countries
have increased their dependency on natural herbal products which has
witnessed in lightning advancement in Indian Herbal market for our
herbal formulations. Method: The current studies deals with the
formulation and evaluation of the anti-bacterial herbal face scrub
containing extract of neem leaves (Azadirachta indica) prepared by
using organic solvent, chia seeds (Salvia hispanica), orange peel
powder, aloe-vera gel, glycerin, honey, lemon juice, guar gum, tragacanth gum, SLS and rose
water. The plants have been reported in literature having good anti-microbial activity, antioxidant
activity and anti-inflammatory activities. Various formulations batches i.e. F1 to F5
were prepared using gum (guar gum and tragacanth gum) and other ingredients in varied
quantities with different concentrations. Result: Prepared formulations (F1 to F5) were
evaluated for various parameters such as color, appearance, consistency, washability, pH and
spreadibility. Amongst all the formulations studies, batch F3 was found to be of optimum
quality. Conclusion: It was a successful attempt to formulate the anti-bacterial herbal face
scrub containing neem leaves (Azadirachta indica) as active constituent and various other
natural ingredients.
