Peptic ulcer is the common disorder of the stomach and duodenum, There are many types of ulcer such as mouth ulcer, esophagus ulcer, peptic ulcer, and genital ulcer. A person may have both gastric and duodenal ulcers at the same time, ulcers are common in older age group. ulceration symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. The drugs which are used to treat peptic ulcer is called antacids. examples H2 receptor blockers (ranitidine, famotidine) or proton pump blockers (omeprazole and lansoprazole). gastric ulcer therapy faces a major drawback so natural products are gaining more space. In the present study we have used the Ethanolic Leaf Extracts Of Indigofera Tinctoria. It has not produced any lethal effect up to the dose level of
2000mg/kg during acute toxicity testing. The ethanolic extract of Indigofera tinctoria showed significant Antiulcer activity at higher dose (500mg/kg). Standard dose of ranitidine and ethanolic leaves extract of I. tinctoria significantly decreased the gastric volume, total acidity, free acidity, and ulcer index. Among the extracts 500mg/kg is more effective compared to 250 mg/kg. so the plant I. tinctoria shows antiulcer activity according to the data and research work with different formulations.
