ROLE OF TARPANA WITH PHALTRIKADI GHRITA IN THE MANAGEMENT OF DWITIYA PATALGATA TIMIRA W.S.R. TO PRESBYOPIA

Abstract
In Ayurveda, Timira is categorized under Drishtigata rogas. When
vitiated doshas are localized in Second patala of eye, the disorder is
known as Dwitya patalagata Timira, sign and symptoms of which
correlates it with Presbyopia in modern parlance. Presbyopia becomes
apparent in middle age, in which loss of elasticity of lens of eyes
causes defective accommodation and diminished near vision. An
individual or professionals requiring fine near work develop
Presbyopia at an early age. The study was done on 30 clinically
diagnosed patients of Presbyopia and they were treated by Tarpana
with Phalatrikadi Ghrita and Saptamrita Lauha orally. On completion
of study, the statistical analysis of results concluded highly significant
results on all subjective parameters except significant result on
Suchipasham na pashyati in dim light and on near visual efficacy significant results with no
adverse effects were observed. It can be concluded that Phaltrikadi Ghrita for Tarpana and
Saptamrita Lauha orally are safe and efficient formulation in management of Dwitiya
Patalgata Timira.
