Abstract
The principle of dhatu poshana nyaya is an important concept in
Ayurveda that emphasises the importance of nutrition in maintaining
the body's various tissues. The various tissues of the body are
constantly supplied with nutrients via the blood. Dhatus are first
formed in the embryonic stage. These dhatus are nurtured by maternal
circulation in the embryonic stage. However, after birth, it is unclear
which tissue is replenished first or if there is a preferential pattern.
Dhatuposhana nyayas explains the bioconversion of nutrients in the
body and can be used to explain every physiological phenomenon in
the body. Dhatuposhana Nyayas discusses various laws put forth by
various authors and commentators regarding the nutrition of body
tissues. These laws not only explain the physiology of the body with
regard to its sustenance and maintenance but also the conversion of nutrients in the body. In
this article, we are particularly focusing on kshiradadhi nyaya, or the law of complete
transformation. In conclusion, dhatuposhana nyayas is a fundamental principle in Ayurveda
that emphasises the importance of a healthy diet in maintaining optimal health and well-being
by nourishing the body's various tissues.
