Abstract

A REVIEW: SUSTAINED RELEASE TABLETS A BOON FOR SOCIETY

Garima Kumari*, Vishal Singh, Rajeev Shukla and Aditya Gupta

.

Abstract

Sustained release tablets have revolutionized the field of medicine by improving patient compliance, reducing dosing frequency, and minimizing side effects. These tablets are designed to maintain a constant drug level in the blood, resulting in better control of symptoms and cost-effectiveness. The success of sustained release tablets depends on several factors, including the physicochemical properties of the drug, polymer selection, manufacturing techniques, and dosage form considerations. Despite their many advantages, there are still challenges in sustained release tablet development, such as achieving a desirable drug release profile and maintaining drug stability. However, future directions for sustained release tablets show great promise, including advanced drug delivery systems, personalized medicine, combination therapies, targeted drug delivery, and improved drug release kinetics. Overall, sustained release tablets are a boon to society and offer great potential for the future of medicine.

Keywords: Sustained release tablets, targeted drug delivery, extended release tablets, controlled release tablets.
