MANAGEMENT OF FRACTURE AND DISLOCATION IN AYURVEDA
Dr. Madhu Sharma*, Dr. Pramod Kumar Mishra, Dr. Brahamanand Sharma, Dr. Saurabh Agrawal
. Abstract In Ayurveda, the treatment of fractures and dislocations is known as Bhagna Chikitsa, and it falls under the categories of surgery and parasurgery. Bhagna was developed by Acharya Sushruta based on factors such as the type of fracture, its shape, and its displacement. In Ayurveda, dislocation is referred to as Sandhimoksha while bone fracture is encouraged to use the name Kand bhagna. Under the title of Bhagna, Ayurveda not only detailed several forms of fractures and dislocations but also numerous therapeutic strategies for the management of these disorders. The traditional methods, such as Kushabandh, Chakrayoga, Taila Droni, and Alepa, etc., are beneficial in certain circumstances. However, for the care of fractures and dislocations, Bhagna Sthapana, Bandhana, and Sukhchestaprasara are mostly used in conjunction with surgical and para-surgical techniques. Both mainstream Ayurveda and contemporary medicine both recommend a variety of medications for symptomatic treatment. Keywords: Ayurveda, Surgical, Bhagna, Fractures, Dislocation.
