AN AYURVEDIC INSIGHT ON YANTRAS AND ITS MODERN ADVANCEMENT

. Abstract Shalyatantra is Ayurveda branch of surgical practice which utilizes different surgical and para-surgical interventions for treating disorders. It also explains about the extraction of shalya. Susruta had defined qualities, defects, diagnostic and treatment applications along with methods of manufacture and preservation of all surgical and nonsurgical equipment’s. Other than sushruta Samhita, yantras are mentioned in Ashtanga Sangraha and Ashtanga Hridaya. In Susrutha Samhita he has mentioned 101 yantras. Sushruta has classified this under 6 major catogories. Out of all the yantras, hasta is considered as the pradhanantamayantra. Modern instruments are mere modifications of instruments which are explained by Susrutha and Vagbhata. This is further proved by the uses and properties of the instruments and the conditions where they are used. All this can be seen as an advancement in ayurvedic surgery. Keywords: .
