AN OVERVIEW: FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL FORMULATION FOR ITS ANTIULCER ACTIVITY
Nand Lal* and Ran Vijay Singh
. Abstract Gastric ulcers are prevalent gastrointestinal disorders affecting millions of people worldwide. In the quest for safe and effective therapeutic options, the present study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of herbal formulations with potential antiulcer activity. The research involves the systematic selection of medicinal plants renowned for their traditional use in ulcer management. Herbal extracts are obtained using appropriate extraction techniques, and various dosage forms, such as tablets and syrups, are formulated to ensure optimal delivery and efficacy. The antiulcer potential of these formulations is comprehensively evaluated through in vitro assays, investigating their antimicrobial, mucoprotective, and anti-inflammatory properties. Promising formulations are further subjected to in vivo studies using animal models to assess their gastroprotective effects. Mechanistic studies are conducted to elucidate the underlying molecular pathways involved in the antiulcer activity of these herbal compounds. Additionally, clinical trials are conducted to validate the safety and efficacy of selected formulations in human subjects, paving the way for their potential integration into mainstream medical practice. The study also addresses standardization and quality control measures to ensure consistency and reliability in the production of herbal products. The findings of this research have substantial implications for the development of novel herbal-based therapeutic options for managing gastric ulcers, contributing to the advancement of herbal medicine in modern healthcare.
