POTENTIAL PARAMETERS TO ASSESS THE DYNAMIC STATES OF TRI-DOSHAS: A REVIEW

Abstract

Tridosha, namely Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, are the fundamental principles of Ayurveda that play a crucial role in maintaining the equilibrium and harmony of the human body. The imbalance or alteration of these Doshas may lead to several diseases and health issues. According to Ayurveda, Doshas are not just physical entities, but they also have mental and emotional aspects. While the concept of tridoshas has been used effectively for centuries in Ayurvedic medicine, the scientific validity of these concepts has not yet been established through rigorous scientific research. In order to establish scientific validity, it is necessary to translate the principles and concepts of Ayurveda into the language of modern biology and medicine. In our classical texts, three dynamic states of Tridoshas viz Sama (balancedstate), Kshaya (hypo functional state) and Vriddhi (hyper functional state) have been described. This paper aimed to summarize and analyze the functional states of the tridoshas with the some modern objective parameters by combining the knowledge and insights of Ayurveda with the latest scientific research. Thus, it will provide valuable insight into the functional state of doshas and guide in the development of new and more effective treatments for a wide range of health conditions.
