ELABORATE REVIEW ON ESSENTIALS OF HOSPITAL PHARMACY

. Abstract The main aim of hospital pharmacy is to ensure the availability of the right medication and at the right time in the right dose. It helps to professionalize the function of the pharmaceutical service in the hospital. Hospital pharmacy act as a counseling department for medical staff, nurses, and patients. Hospital pharmacy act as a data bank on drug utilization. They also participate in research work, and plan, organize, and implement pharmacy policy procedures in keeping with the established policies of the hospital. The hospital pharmacist coordinates and cooperates with other departments of the hospital to sure patient safety and proper administration and treatment of patients. They ensure that the health of the patients is properly managed by making sure the prescriptions are accurate and given through the right route, to the right patient, at the right time, and the right dose. The hospital pharmacist ensures that the pharmacy and therapeutics committee decisions are implemented and practiced by all health staff in the hospital. The hospital pharmacist provides specifications for the purchase of drugs, chemicals, etc. They help to ensure the proper storing of drugs, dispensing, and sterilizing of parenteral preparations which are manufactured in the hospital. Hospital pharmacist helps to ensure that dispensing of drugs are done as per the prescriptions of the physician. They distribute medicaments such as parenteral, transfusion fluids, capsules, tablets, etc. They help in the management of stores which includes proper storage conditions, purchase of drugs, and maintenance of records.
