A REVIEW ON MIRACLE PLANT OREGANO

. Abstract Origanum vulgare L. is a species of plant in the Lamiaceae family and is native to the Mediterranean and Western Eurasian regions. This aromatic herb is widely used around the world as a spice and medicinal plant, representing a remedy in various traditional healing systems. In particular, oregano leaves are rich in phytochemicals and have been widely used to provide different pharmacological effects. This narrative review aims to provide an up-to-date overview of the biology or knowledge of O. Vulgare and its major bioactive phytochemicals, as well as in human studies, have focused on anticancer, antiinflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial activities.
