Abstract

Drug repurposing involves identifying new uses for existing drugs or active ingredients in indications beyond their original indication. In recent years, the development of new drugs has decreased. Powerful tools have been developed to support the research and development (R&D) process and are extremely important. Reusing pharmaceuticals can aid the research and development process. Repurposing medicines has important benefits, including reduced development time and costs, and the potential for significant healthcare cost savings. However, current research on generic drug repurposing faces many challenges in obtaining research funding. Further more, regardless of whether reuse efforts are successful, commercial parties are often not interested in obtaining marketing approval for economic reasons, and academic researchers lack knowledge, time, and funding. doing. Therefore, new indications for repurposed drugs often do not appear on the label. Repositioning is more important than traditional approaches and requires effective treatment because traditional drug discovery is a labor-intensive, expensive, and risky process. There has been massive investment, excessive depletion and reduction in production, and repurposing of pharmaceuticals. A blooming approach to identifying and developing new treatments. Drug repurposing identifies new uses for drugs that have already been banned or withdrawn from the market. Drug repurposing plays an important role in drug design as it supports preclinical development. The COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected human and economic costs, mainly due to the lack of specialized treatments. At present, drug repurposing is a better option than adding immunotherapy to reach short-term treatment of COVID-19. It provide cheap, fast, and safe treatment. Strategies such as in silico models, data mining, and artificial intelligence can help accelerate this. However, there are some hurdles to overcome, including legal and financial hurdles. Cooperation, awareness raising, and promotion between different sectors can help drug repurposing flourish, which has great promise in the modern medical field.
