. Abstract Emulgel is a combination of emulsion and gel, and can deliver both hydrophilic and lipophilic drugs due to the presence of both aqueous and non-aqueous phases. In recent years, they have been used as a control release formulation. These are biphasic systems that have better drug loading capacity and better stability. he patient adherence to topical formulations is significant in relation to chronic skin diseases, like fungal infections, acne, psoriasis. Emulgel is one of the recent technology in NDDS used topically having characteristics of dual control release. Emulgel have emerged as one of the most interesting topical delivery systems as it has dual release control. When gel and emulsion are used in combined form, the dosage form are referred as emulgel. Spironolactone is androgen receptor blocker, inhibitor of 5-a reductase and aldosterone antagonist, used to treat acne vulgaris orally, but in this study, we formulate and evaluate Spironolactone in drug delivery system as emulgel to avoid adverse effects of anti-androgenic action of Spironolactone with males and avoid diuretic action. We prepared twelve formulation, the best formulation was prepared was the emulgel F10 among formulations possess an advantage compared to other formulations in terms of spreadabilty, adhesion, viscosity and stabiliity results and thus will become a popular choice in anti-acne emulgel novel trend in topical drug delivery systems.
