H. M. Bhagyashree*, Vedashree D. T., Padmakiran C. and Niranjan Rao
. Abstract An inflammatory bowel condition that results in ulcers and inflammation in the digestive tract is called ulcerative colitis (UC). The colon and rectum, which are the innermost linings of the large intestine, were impacted by UC. Most common symptoms don't always appear right away; they typically build up gradually. UC can be exhausting or even result in potentially fatal complications. Although there is currently no known cure, a number of novel treatments can significantly lessen the disease's signs and symptoms and induce a long-term remission. According to Ayurveda, Raktaatisara, Pitajatisara, Parvahika, and Grahani exhibit symptoms that are similar to those of UC, such as excessively foul-smelling, blood-and-bilemixed feces, burning feeling, colon and anus suppuration, colic pain, etc. Pichha Basti mentioned by Acharya Charaka and Vagbatta in Parvahika, Grahani, and Atisara. Because of its Grahi, Deepanadravya, and Picchila Guna, this basti reduces inflammation. It also improves Apanavata function. There was significant relief in the symptoms like frequency with mucus and blood, generalized weakness, improvement in the sleep pattern.
