Abstract

AYURVEDIC MANAGEMENT OF JALODAR(ASCITES)- A CASE STUDY

Abstract

Cirrhosis is the most common cause of ascites. Cirrhosis of liver is an imperceptible disease due to any of the various long standing liver disease which gradually leads to scarring of the liver tissues. This scarring or fibrosis is the consequence from the healing of the injured liver cells. In Ayurveda, Ascites can be corelated with Jalodar. In Ayurveda main cause of Udar-roga is Mandagni, Doshati Sanchay and Pap Karma. Ayurveda is capable to provide result in the management of such decompensated liver disease. We hereby report a successfully managed case of a 59year old male patient with post ATT (Anti Tubercular Treatment) hepatotoxicity originated ascites with cholelithiasis. Patient came to Kayachikitsa department OPD at GAAC, Ahmedabad having OPD no. 6057 with complaints of abdominal distension, excessive weakness and anorexia. The patient was treated with classical ayurveda principles viz. “Nirjala Niranna Nirlavana diet and Nityamev Virechayeta”. The patient got remarkable recovery in cirrhotic liver.
