REVIEW ON NEXT GENERATION IMPACTOR (PHARMACEUTICAL INHALER)

Abstract

According to British pharmacopeia four types of Inhaler appapratus for inhaler testing two Next Generation imactor and two glass impinger in that The next generation impactor is more accurate, reliable and sophisticated than the twin glass impinger. To evaluate pharmaceutical inhalers, a novel cascade impactor has been created. The Next Generation Pharmaceutical Impactor (NGI), which consists of seven stages, may function at any inlet flow rate between 30 and 100 L/min. Its cut size (D50) ranges from 0.54 mm to 11.7 mm at 30 litres per minute and 0.24 mm to 6.12 mm at 100 litres per minute. Following well-known scientific concepts, the impactor's aerodynamics provide assured particle size fractionation behaviour across the design flow range. To increase its usefulness r inhaler testing, the NGI incorporates a number of characteristics. Particles are one such feature, and they are placed on collection cups that are kept in a tray. This tray is removed from the impactor as a single unit, facilitating quick sample turn-around times if multiple trays are used. The user may directly add up to 40 mL of an appropriate solvent to the cups to achieve drug recovery. A micro-orifice collector (MOC), which collects extremely minute particles that would often be gathered on the last filter in other impactors, is another distinctive feature. The MOC cup's collected particles can be examined in the same way as the particles gathered in the other impactor stage cups are. An impactor that is well adapted to the requirements of the community testing inhalers is produced by the user-friendly features and aerodynamic design principles combined.
