COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW ON FURAN AND ITS DERIVATIVES
Ashish Bhardwaj and Palvi Sharma*
. Abstract Furan is a heterocyclic organic compound made up of one oxygen atom and four carbon atoms arranged in an aromatic ring with five members. Furans are another name for chemical substances that have these kinds of rings. Furan is a colourless liquid that boils almost at ambient temperature and is highly volatile and combustible. It is somewhat soluble in water and soluble in common organic solvents such as ether, acetone, and alcohol. "Strong, ethereal; chloroform-like" is how it smells. It is poisonous and might cause cancer in people. Furan serves as a foundational material for other specialty compounds. In this review we explain about various derivatives of furan and their activities. Furan shows numerous activities like Antibacterial, Antiviral, Anti-inflammatory, Anti-fungal, Anti-tumor, Antihyperglycemic, Analgesic, Anti- convulsant, Antidepressant, Antianxiolytic, Anti- parkinsonian, Anti-glaucoma, Muscle relaxant, Antihypertensive, Diuretic, Anti- ulcer, Anti-ageing and Anticancer activities. Keywords: Furan, Derivatives, Activities, Heterocyclic compound, Synthesis. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
