Abstract

SOME ECOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS ON KONA GOREG AREA, ERBIL, KURDISTAN, IRAQ

Abstract

A total of (31) animals and ( 5 ) plants and (3) of phytoplannktons were observed in Kona Goreg area, south of Erbil city, Kurdistan, Iraq. Among animals: one mammal, common dog, Canis familaris; among birds (14) species were observed namely: Bee eater, Merops supercilious; House sparrow, Passer domesticus, Starling, Sturnus fulgaris; Collared dove, Strptopelia decaocto; Common swift, Apus apus;Creasted lark, Galerida cristata; Barn swallow,sanonoo, Hirudo rustica; Moorhen, Gallinulula chloropus; Black-winged stilt, Hamantopus himantopus;Cattle egret, Bulbulcus ibis;Grey heron, Ardea cinerea;White-winged black tern, Chlidonia leucopterus; Yellow wagtail, Motacilla flava; Grey wagtail, Motacilla cinerea; one reptile, Natrix tesseleta, Two amphibians, Common frog, Ranaridibunda ridibunda; Tree frog, Hyla arborea;Among arthropds (3) crustaceans, Cyclops phaleratus. Daphinia pulex,Bosima longorostris, among insects(6 )species : Chironomid larvae,Nymph of damsel fly, Nymph of dragon fly, Water strider, Gerris sp, White butterfly, Pieris rapae; Lady bird beetle, Coccinella septempunctata; one arachnid, Aquatic mite, Porolohamanella sp. : one nematode, Chromogaster gracilis and one protozoan, Paramecium caudatum.Among Plants (5 species) were observed: Wild mustard, Brassica brassica,Milk thistle,Sylibium marianum , Nut grass, Cyperus rotundus, Feverfew, Matricaria aurea,Reed, Phragmites communis, while the Phytoplankton recovered from water samples were(3 species) species): Spirogyra, Blue green algae, Navicula, and Clamidomonas sp.
