HOUSEHOLD WATER PURIFICATION USING MORINGA OLEIFERA SEED POWDER BAGS
Prasanna Mahore, Santosh Palwe, Rohit Khandare* and Dr. Priyatama Powar
. Abstract Clean drinking water is a significant issue in developing countries, particularly in rural areas. Many water purification methods are unaffordable or lack technical know-how. A new, cost- effective method has been developed using moringa seed powder as a natural coagulant and flocculent to clarify turbid water. The rising cost of water treatment and the unstable quality of river water due to land development and high storm runoff during rainy seasons make it difficult for water treatment companies to sustain the costs. Moringa oleifera, a tropical plant with edible oil and water- soluble substance, is the best natural coagulant to replace aluminum sulfate (Alum). The study focuses on the active constituents responsible for the coagulation mechanism and improving the coagulation property of Moringa oleifera seeds. The mechanism of coagulation with Moringa oleifera appears to consist of adsorption and neutralization of the colloidal charges. Keywords: Moringa oleifera, water treatment, natural coagulant, river water, alternatives, Turbidity. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
