A REVIEW ARTICLE ON MANAGEMENT OF HYPERTENSION THROUGH AYURVEDA

Abstract One of the most prevalent lifestyle disorders is hypertension. It is characterized by a blood pressure reading more than 140/90 mm Hg. Another name for it is the silent killer. The prevalence of hypertension is rising daily these days because of fast modernization and demanding lifestyles. Unhealthy eating patterns and a poor lifestyle are major contributors to the development of hypertension. There is no mention of hypertension in any of the Samhitas or Granthas. Therefore, it is challenging to determine the precise correlation in Ayurveda. Dosha, dushya, and strotas can be used to explain the illness. As mentioned by Acharya Charaka in Charaka Sutrasthana-18, If the nature of the illness is unknown, the doctor should attempt to determine it using dosha, dushya, and samprapti. Then, the treatment is administered in accordance with treatment aspect. Hence, people are looking towards Ayurvedic treatment. In Ayurvedic principle, proper Dincharya, Ritucharya, Pathya-Apathya, life style management, Shodhan and Shaman Chikitsa that helps to decrease hypertension.[1] Keywords: Review, Dincharya, pathya, hypertension.
