Abstract Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is a common and serious complication of diabetes mellitus, often leading to poor outcomes due to the microvascular and macrovascular changes that occur as a result of prolonged hyperglycemia. Ayurveda classifies such ulcers as Dushta Vrana, a term used to describe chronic, non-healing wounds that are often complicated by infection and delayed healing. To address DFU, Ayurveda offers various therapeutic modalities, including oral medications to control blood glucose levels, blood-letting techniques to promote circulation, and wound debridement to remove necrotic tissue and promote healing. This case report presents a 52-year-old male patient with a diabetic foot ulcer located on the right heel since four months, associated with symptoms of foul odor and severe pain. The patient is known case of Type 2 diabetes mellitus on medication. The case was managed using Ayurveda principles, which include the jaloukavacharana, vimlapana, prakshalana, bandana. As a result, the patient achieved complete healing of the ulcer. Keywords: Diabetic Foot Ulcer, Dushta Vrana, Jaloukavacharana. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
