ANTI-OXIDANT AND HEPATOPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY OF PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS OF LEAVES EXTRACTS FROM MENTHA LONGIFOLIA AND MENTHA SPICATA IN DIABETIC MALE RATS

Abstract Diabetes mellitus is one of the most widely distributed metabolic disorders and occurs in almost all populations of the world at a variable prevalence. The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of phenolic compounds extracted from Mentha longifolia and Mentha spicata on serum malondialdehide (MDA) , ceroloplasmine (CP) , body weight, liver enzymes Alanine Transaminase(ALT) and Aspartate Transaminase (AST) level of diabetic male rats. One dose (200 mg/kg) from each plant were used and the animals were injected intraperitonially for 14 days as one dose/day.
