DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF NUTRITIONAL PREMIX (FIGOMIX) USING FICUS CARICA FOR BONE HEALTH
*Miss Manasi Giridhar Shettigar, Miss Sharvari Vijay Kasekar, Miss Nimisha Vijayan
. Abstract Bone health is a critical concern, particularly among aging populations prone to conditions like osteoporosis. Despite the availability of calcium and vitamin D supplements, there is a growing demand for natural, food-based alternatives. This study aims to develop nutrientdense premix, combining figs, oats, flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, and milk powder. These ingredients, rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and vitamin K, are formulated to provide essential nutrients for bone health in a convenient format. This research involves Formulation and Evaluation of the water-based premix. The premix was evaluated by determining the amount of calcium by complexometric titration, Vitamin D and other proximate like Moisture, Ash, pH, Proteins, Fats and Carbohydrates. The expected outcome of the study is consumer-friendly premix in the easy to consume form with improved nutrient bioavailability. Competitive pricing is a differentiator compared to existing supplements. The study also includes opportunities in the growing nutraceutical and health supplements market while acknowledging the challenges like consumer preferences, lack of awareness amongst the consumer, etc. Future research could expand formulations to target specific demographics or address other health concerns, such as heart health or gut health. Keywords: Bone health, premix, figs, oats, calcium, vitamin D, nutraceuticals, preventive health, bioavailability, formulation. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
