CLINICAL EFFICACY OF SHODHAN CHIKITSA IN SECONDARY INFERTILITY W.S.R. TO VANDHYATVA ASSOCIATED WITH POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN DISEASE – CASE STUDY

. Abstract Introduction: In addition to being a medical condition, infertility is more of a societal issue that impacts the individual's emotional, social, and personal well-being. One of the most prevalent reasons of infertility in women is PCOD. Having trouble getting pregnant is often the first sign that a woman has PCOD. It is associated with irregular or absent periods. Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of Shodhana chikitsa in the management of Vandhyatva (Secondary Infertility) w.s.r. to Polycystic Ovarian Disease. Methods & Materials: This is a case study of a couple who had been trying for three years to conceive having secondary infertility. While the male couple's profile was normal, the female partner was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. In order to induce ovulation, she was prescribed oral hormonal medication, but she did not see any improvement. The aim of the current treatment was to manage PCOS, while preserving regular ovulation, which would help with the development of a healthy child and a smooth delivery. Treatment was initiated with vamana, followed by three cycles of uttarbasti with Phalaghrita. Results: In the study, she got pregnant after receiving shodhana chikitsa. Conclusion: As a result, it has been concluded that Phalghrita uttarbasti is effective treatment modality in infertility owing to Polycystic Ovarian Disease.
