MANAGEMENT OF KAPHA - PITTAJA SHIRASHOOL BY RAKTAMOKSHAN (BLOODLETTING) –A CASE REPORT

Abstract “Shirashool” is a very common condition in modern era. It is described by all the Acharyas. “Shirashool” is one among the “Jatrurdhvagata roga.” According to the Acharya Charaka, dietary factors like excessive consumption of Katu (Pungent), Amla (Sour), Lavana (Salt), and Kshara (Alkali) food items, alcoholism, anger, exposure to sun /fire etc. will aggrevate Pitta that leads to “Shirashool”.[1] In “Pittaja Shirashool” symptoms are severe burning and fuming sensations in head, eyes, nose similar to burning charcoal; along with fever, profuse, sweating, fainting, thirst, and this condition is called as “Pittaja Shiroabhitapa/ Shirashool.[2]”. Accordong to the Charaka Acharya Leisure life style, sleeping in the time, consumping of Guru, Singhda items and excessive eating are the specific factors.[3] The patient complains of severe burning and fuming sensations in head, heaviness in head, eyes, nose and profuse, sweating, fainting, thirst, Maxillary and Frontal sinuses & tenderness, pain in eye and head. In” Kapha- Pittaja Shirashool, Jalaukavacharana”,[4] Shadbindu Taila Nasya, Avipattikar churna and Capsule Nilsin treatment given for 30 days.
