REVIEW OF URINARY TRACT IN THE LIGHT OF MUTRAVAHA SROTAS

Abstract The aim of Ayurveda is to understand the human body or 'Sharir' in a transcendental way by using variety of methods, theories and concepts such as srotas. According to different understandings and opinions of Acharyas, Srotas are the channels that help in maintaining healthy dhatus and nourishment of the body and these are innumerable in number. Acharyas mentioned many srotas like pranvaha, udakvaha, medavaha, majjavaha, shukravaha etc. One of them is mutravaha srotas. It is one of the most important and functional srotas of living beings which deals with collecting and excreting out the urine from the body. According to the opinion of Acharya Charaka, Mutravaha srotas contain “Vasti” which refers to the urinary bladder which stores urine and “Vankshan” which refers to the inguinal canal which provides passage for excreting out waste.
