GC-MS/MS ANALYSIS OF MUNTINGIA CALABURA L FRUIT, ANTIMICROBIAL ACTIVITY
Krishnaveni M*, Ragina banu C, Krishna kumari G and Kalaivani M
Abstract The main objective of the present study was to evaluate the phytoconstituents in Muntingia calabura fruit through GC-MS/MS as well as its antimicrobial properties. Shade dried Muntingia calabura fruit samples was used for ethanol extraction. The results of GCMS/ MS showed nine phytocompounds, out of nine compounds, the compound showing highest peak was t-Butyl hydrogen phthalate, Propane, 1,1-diethoxy-, Stigmasterol. The peak was moderate with Stigmastan-3,5-diene, Stigmasteryl tosylate, Ethyl α-dglucopyranoside, Piperazine. The peak was lowest for Dodecanoic acid, ethyl ester. The ethanol extract of Muntingia calabura fruit was active against Aspergillus niger. The phytoconstituents present in the Muntingia calabura fruit sample impart antimicrobial properties against both bacteria and fungi. Keywords: Fruit, GC-MS/MS, Muntingia calabura, Antibacterial, Antifungal. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
