EXPLORING THE BEAUTY OF CHINESE IXORA: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW

. Abstract Chinese Ixora, or Ixora chinensis, is a significant medicinal plant that is a member of the Rubiaceae family. It is widely found in tropical and subtropical areas and has attracted interest because of its many pharmacological characteristics and ethnomedical uses. The aim of this review is to consolidate an existing body of knowledge regarding I. chinensis phytochemistry, traditional use, pharmacological activities and therapeutic potential. The herb has long been used to heal ailments like inflammation, wounds, fever, and diarrhoea. Its antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and anticancer activities are attributed to the presence of bioactive elements such as flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, saponins, and phenolic compounds, as revealed by phytochemical investigations. The review also addresses the need for additional clinical and toxicological assessments and emphasizes in vitro and in vivo research that support these actions.
