PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF LIGNIN NANOPARTICLES FROM COCONUT COIR OF COCOS NUCIFERA L
Arati N. Parange* and Dr. R. C. Patil
. Abstract Lignin, a complex biopolymer found abundantly in the secondary cell walls of vascular plants, represents a promising renewable resource for the development of value-added materials. In recent years, lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) have attracted considerable interest due to their unique physicochemical and bioactive properties, including antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, and UV-protective capabilities. These properties open up potential applications in various sectors such as food packaging, cosmetics, coatings, and paper industries. This study focuses on the preparation of lignin nanoparticles using chemical treatment methods and investigates their morphological, structural, and functional characteristics. The synthesized LNPs were characterized using techniques such as dynamic light scattering (DLS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and UV–Vis spectroscopy. The findings highlight the potential of LNPs as a sustainable and multifunctional material, contributing to the advancement of eco-friendly and bio-based technologies. Keywords: Lignin, nanoparticles, coconut, Cocos nucifera L. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
