Abstract

CONCEPT OF VRANA (WOUND) AND WOUND HEALING DRUGS, IN AYURVEDA

Abstract

Concept of Vrana is an illustrative topic described in classical literature of Ayurveda. Description, classification and management of various local and systemic measures in Vrana chikitsa are available in Brihatrayee texts. Principles and procedures for management of wound described by Sushruta are still very much in practice. Wound healing drugs and their detailed descriptions are also available in the form of Gana (group of drugs). Descriptions made in this paper stands as basic information from classics in wound management.
