Abstract

The Sushruta Samhita stands as one of the most comprehensive and sophisticated medical texts of ancient India, forming a foundational pillar of Ayurvedic medicine alongside the Charaka Samhita and Ashtanga Hridaya. This article systematically examines its historical origins, anatomical and surgical contributions, pharmacological formulations, and enduring influence on contemporary medical practices. Through textual analysis and modern scientific validation, we demonstrate how this 6th century BCE text remains remarkably relevant in 21st century healthcare.
