STABILITY INDICATING ASSAY OF LOPERAMIDE BY RPHPLCAmrita Jain *, B.K. Dubey , Kamaal Ahmad, Amit jain TIT College of Pharmacy, Bhopal, India. Abstract Loperamide is very sensitive drug. It is very unstable drug due to presence of hydroxy group. It is used as antidiarrheal drug. Loperamide binds to the opiate receptor in the gut wall. Loperamide increases the tone of the anal sphincter. It is not significantly absorbed from the gut and has no effect on the adrenergic system or central nervous system. Loperamide is slightly soluble in water and freely soluble in organic solvents. To increase its stability generally used it as hydrochloride form. Rphplc is a very sensitive method to determine the stability of any drug. It is based on adsorption. When mixtures of components are introduced into a HPLC column they separate according to their relative affinities towards the stationery phase.
