A REVIEW ON EXPLORING BENZIMIDAZOLE BASED HETEROCYCLES: FROM LABORATORY SYNTHESIS TO THERAPEUTIC USES
Mahesh Kumar N.*, Dr. Shachindra L. Nargund1, Priya A. and Dr. V. Murugan
Abstract Benzimidazole is a special type of molecule made from benzene and imidazole, known for its important uses in medicine and other areas. It shows various useful properties, including the ability to fight infections, viruses, and cancer, while also reducing inflammation. Researchers are continuing to create new benzimidazole compounds for specific medical uses to improve health outcomes. Microwave irradiation is a green approach that has been used since 1986 for making benzimidazoles more efficiently. This technique speeds up reactions, cutting production time from hours to just minutes and improving the outcome of chemical reactions. Recently, it has gained interest in the field of green chemistry, promoting better resource use. Every year, many new heterocyclic compounds are identified, drawing attention due to their therapeutic and industrial value. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, researchers in 2020 developed seven new antiviral compounds aimed at treating the disease. Based on their study, the compounds showed strong binding to NSP12, which is significant for their potential effectiveness. Keywords: Bis-benzimidazoles, antimicrobial activity, microwave irradiation, anticancer activity, gold nano particles. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
