HYPOGLYCEMIC STUDY OF ETHANOLIC EXTRACT OF MIKANIA CORDATA LEAF

Abstract Besides synthetic drugs, plants derived drugs are also used to manage diabetes. In this study ethanolic leaf extracts (200 & 400 mg/kg body weight) of Mikania cordata were evaluated for hypoglycemic potency. Oral glucose tolerance test was performed on mice at 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes after glucose (2 mg/kg) administration to determine the rapidity of the extracts to reduce blood glucose level.
