A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW OF HYPERTENSION: CAUSES, SYMPTOMS, AND TREATMENT

. Abstract This study focused on a population-representative sample of adults to discuss the prevalence, awareness, diagnosis, treatment, and control of hypertension. The high incidence of hypertension and its correlation with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease make it a significant worldwide health concern. The mortality rates from coronary heart disease and stroke have significantly decreased in developed nations as a result of recent advancements in the detection and treatment of hypertension. The rates of high blood pressure control have, however, actually decreased in recent years in many of these nations. Globally, 1.2 billion individuals are predicted to have hypertension by 2010." The Eastern Mediterranean Region has an average prevalence of 26% for hypertension, affecting over 125 million people.
