RECENT ADVANCEMENT IN THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF COMPLEX FISTULA IN ANO

Abstract

Fistula in ano is challenging surgical disease to manage, with complex fistula in ano presenting even more difficulty. The prime concern in treating these patients are risk of damage to anal sphincters which can compromise faecal continence and high recurrence rate. Furthermore, treatment of fistula in ano involves several additional challenges. This review discusses and highlights advancement in the management of fistula in ano over the past decade.
