Abstract • Infertility is defined as failure to conceive within one or more years of regular unprotected coitus. • Primary infertility: denotes those patients who have never conceived. • Secondary infertility: indicates previous pregnancy but failure to conceive subsequently. • A lady without progeny is a vandhya and the condition is termed as vandhyatava. • Acc. To acharaya vagbhata the congenital maldevelopment or deformity due to bija dosha of female genital tract is the cause of bandhyatava. • Acharaya bhela has stated that vandhya is mainly due to vata.
