THERAPEUTIC INSIGHT INTO MOMORDICA DIOCIA: AN EMERGING NATURAL ANTHELMINTIC AGENT
Shrawani Jadhav*, Prof. V.V. Baisane
Abstract Momordica diocia is a plant in the Cucurbitaceae family, known as a Raanbhaji (wild vegetable), which has many medicinal benefits. Related species such as M. charantia (bitter melon), M. balsamina (balsam apple), and M. cochinchinensis (baby jackfruit) also exhibit notable therapeutic potential. This crude drug mainly shows anthelmintic effects that have been utilized traditionally. Each part of the M.Diocia plant reveals distinct medicinal uses, making it a holistic herbal remedy. Given the rise in helminthic infections, this review explores the potential of M. dioica in developing polyherbal formulations with minimal side effects using readily available ingredients. Keywords: Raanbhaji, Momordica dioica, Cucurbitaceae, Anthelmintic. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
