BIODIVERSITY AND CONSERVATION OF MATURE TREE CULTURES OF ENDEMIC PLANT TERMINALIA PALLIDA BY IN VITRO PROPAGATION
Dr. R. Vinolya Kumari*
Abstract A method for in vitro propagation of endemic and threatened treespecies of Terminalia pallida was reported from seshachalum and wassuccessfully established. Shoot tip and nodal segments of activelygrowing branches of mature elite tree of T. Pallida cultured on MSmedium containing BAP and NAA produce axillary shoots. But thebest multiplication rate was obtained in MS medium containing5 mg/lBAP and 0.5mg/l NAA and shoot production was greatest in nodalexplants. Shoots rooted after transfer onto modified MS medium with2 mg/l IBA+ 0.5 mg/l BAP. The proliferated shoots were successfullyrooted in sterile soil mixture. Keywords: .
