Abstract Background: Due to lack of data regarding antimicrobial prescribing pattern in ENT department from the state of Bihar, this current study was conducted to fill the void. Objective: The objective of this study was to monitor the antimicrobial utilization pattern and determine its cost effectiveness in the ENT department of a tertiary care teaching hospital in Bihar. Materials and Method: An observational, prospective study was conducted from May to October 2014 in the OPD and IPD of ENT Department of M.G.M. Medical College & L.S.K. Hospital, Kishanganj. Data were collected in customized proforma from 218 prescriptions and analyzed using the WHO prescribing indicators.
