FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF HERBAL ANTACID CAPSULE CONTANING LIQUORICE AND GINGER
Suhani Pradeep Kamble*, Sakshee Kishor Kanim, Tushar Tatya Karade, Swati A. Patil,
Abstract The present study focuses on the development and evaluation of a novel herbal antacid capsule formulated using liquorice and ginger powders. Initially, a comprehensive pre-formulation study was conducted to assess the physicochemical properties of the raw materials, including organoleptic characteristics, solubility, and compatibility. Based on these findings, herbal antacid capsules containing standardized amounts of liquorice and ginger were prepared and subjected to evaluation. The physical parameters of the capsules, such as weight variation, disintegration time, pH and dissolution time were systematically tested to ensure quality and consistency. Furthermore, the acid neutralizing capacity of the formulation was verified through back titration using hydrochloric acid, thereby confirming its potential efficacy in reducing gastric acidity. The results of this study highlight the promising role of liquorice and ginger as natural agents in the formulation of safe and effective herbal antacid capsules, offering an alternative to conventional synthetic antacids. Keywords: herbal antacid capsule, liquorice, ginger, hyperacidity. [Full Text Article] [Download Certificate] |
