AYURVEDIC REVIEW ON MANYASTHAMBHA AND ITS TREATMENT
Dr. Kalyani Jagannath Bhelke*, Dr. Sachin Gandhi
Abstract In the present era, stressful and busy lifestyles have increased the occurrence of various degenerative disorders. Manyastambha is one such condition, which is becoming increasingly common. It is characterized by pain, stiffness, and restricted movement of the neck. In Ayurveda, Manyastambha is described among the eighty Vataja Nanatmaja Vyadhis and also under Urdhwajatrugata Vikara. Manyastambha can be clinically correlated with cervical spondylosis in modern medicine. Cervical spondylosis is a degenerative condition affecting the cervical spine. The main symptoms are pain (Ruk) and stiffness (Stambha). In severe cases, compression of the nerve roots may occur, leading to sensory or motor disturbances. The increasing incidence of cervical spondylosis is associated with modern lifestyle habits such as poor sitting posture, prolonged computer and mobile use, continuous work, long working hours, night shifts, watching television for extended periods, and improper sleeping positions or pillows. Lack of regular exercise and insufficient attention to healthy diet and mental well-being may also contribute to the development of this condition.
